Marshall Browning Hospital Golf Classic A Success


Du Quoin, Illinois - June 24, 2011 - Marshall Browning Hospital hosted their 10th Annual Charity Golf Classic, on Thursday, June 9, at Red Hawk Golf Club. Nearly $9,000 was received to assist the hospital in purchasing new equipment for its Swing Bed patients.

A total of 18 teams participated in the four-person scramble. Golfers were treated to food and refreshments throughout the day. Prizes were awarded to the first, seventh, thirteenth and last place team.

The winning team was sponsored by Linzee Insurance and included Wendy Linzee, Greg Wilson, Josh Wilson, and Barry Craig with an impressive score of 54. Prizes were also awarded to the 7th place team sponsored by Feirich/Mager/Green/Ryan and included Richard Green, Ed Renshaw, Jim Giacone, and Tom Frenkel. The 13th place team was sponsored by Alberici Constructors, Inc. and included Tom Stewart, Jerry Robinson, Scott Menkes, and Brian Guittar.

The 'funnest foursome' was awarded to Sherry Wertz, Nick Fellner and Pete Wertz. Winner of the Longest Drive on hole #13 went to Shane Dyle (Subway team), Closest to the Pin on hole #3 was Jake Koons (J. F.Electric team), and Longest Putt on hole #18 was awarded to Cory Thorsen (Rose Business Forms).

Vogler Motor Company of Carbondale generously sponsored a hole-in-one prize including a 2 year lease on a new 2011 Ford F150 Supercrew 4 x 4, as well as other auxiliary prizes for Par 3 hole-in-one contests. There were no winners of the hole-in-one contests.

Marshall Browning Hospital would like to thank those who supported the 10th Annual Charity Golf Classic by playing on a team and the area businesses for their generous support of hole sponsorships and door prizes. A special thanks is given to Sam and Liz Macaluso for their outstanding efforts that contribute greatly to the success of this event.
