MARSHALL BROWNING HOSPITAL TO OFFER SCHOOL SPORTS PHYSICAL CLINICS

Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin will again offer school sports physical clinics for area junior high and high school athletes. For a donation of $10, area athletes will be given a thorough sports physical examination by a team of local physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physical therapists, and athletic trainer.

Marshall Browning Hospital will then donate all proceeds from the clinics to each individual school represented.
The sports physical clinics will be offered on Monday, July 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, July 24 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Exams are required every year for a student to participate in sports.

Junior high and high school athletes will be tested for flexibility and strength, range of motion, scoliosis, as well as having their blood pressure, vision, lungs and heart checked. The clinics will be held in the Specialty Services area of the hospital. Students may enter through the main lobby. IHSA Pre-participation forms will be available at the clinics; however, since this form serves as a consent, it must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian and presented at the time of the exam. Forms may also be printed off of the IHSA website at ihsa.org.

Exams will not be performed without the parent or guardian's signature. The exam is for sports physicals only and does NOT apply to school physicals. No appointments are needed. Students will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis.

For questions concerning the clinics, please call Pam Logan at 542-1033.
