Marshall Browning Hospital and SIH Second Act to Host Breast Cancer Program

Du Quoin, Illinois - August 27, 2012 - Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin and the Southern Illinois Healthcare Second Act Program are pleased to jointly sponsor "The Benefits of Digital Mammography in Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment" on Tuesday, September 11. The program will be held in the new Family Life Center at First Baptist Church in Du Quoin with dinner at 5:15 p.m. and the program beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Dr. Marsha Ryan, Board Certified General Surgeon at Carbondale and Marshall Browning Hospital mammography staff will be presenting the program.

Digital mammography is now available at Marshall Browning Hospital as well as an affiliation with The Breast Center in Carbondale. Digital mammography has many advantages over film mammography in the diagnosis of breast cancer. The digital images are sent to the radiologist for faster reading. This reduces patient stress and wait time to obtain results. Digital mammography uses less radiation and is more accurate than film at finding cancer in women less than 50 years old and those with dense breast tissue.

Come learn about this technology, the latest research and surgical options for breast cancer and the steps that can be taken medically and surgically for patient treatment. Cost for the program is $5 and includes a complimentary dinner. Pre-registration is required. To register, call 877-480-4040 or contact Pam Logan at 542-1033. Space is limited.
