Marshall Browning Hospital Invites Community to Open House of New Chapel

Du Quoin, IL - January 14, 2011 - Marshall Browning Hospital proudly announces the Open House of the new Chapel at the hospital. The Open House will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a special dedication service to be held at 2:00 p.m.

The hospital board of directors recognized the need for a chapel and approved offsetting a portion of the cost with the hospital Auxiliary's 2009 Tree of Life Campaign. "Obviously, many families in this community had a part in helping to make the Chapel possible through their gifts to the campaign," said William Huff, CEO.

The chapel will be a place for those in need to reflect in an atmosphere that encourages depth and meaning. Designed as a non-denominational location for reflection and prayer, the chapel will provide an area where pastors, families, staff members and the community may come for meditation, and find a quiet place to rest and experience God's healing and his presence in their daily lives.

Huff commended the Chapel Committee with creating a beautiful chapel that will benefit families in the community for years to come. "Each committee member played a role in making this chapel happen." The committee was comprised of Rev. Rich Luh of St. Johns United Church of Christ; Rev. Gerald Wright, of Spirit of Life Christian Church and President of the Du Quoin Ministerial Alliance; Colleen Furry, Auxiliary Member; Sam Macaluso, MBH Auxiliary Tree of Life Co-Chair; Marceil Reminger, Hospital Retiree and Auxiliary member; Dr. Craig Furry, President of Medical Staff; Lyle Vanzandt, Director of Support Services; and William Huff, CEO.

"We are pleased that our patients, visitors and staff, as well as local pastors, will now have a chapel available for their needs and convenience" added Huff.
