Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin awarded their fourth $1,000 health career scholarship to Chace Epplin of Du Quoin. Each spring, a DuQuoin High School senior is awarded $1,000-per-year for up to four years to help further their college dreams.  Chase plans to attend John A. Logan College and then transfer to a four-year university where he will pursue a Bachelor's degree in nursing.

MBH Awards Fourth Four-Year Healthcare Scholarship


Du Quoin, Illinois - July 31, 2012 - Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin awarded their fourth $1,000 health career scholarship to Chace Epplin of Du Quoin. Each spring, a DuQuoin High School senior is awarded $1,000-per-year for up to four years to help further their college dreams. Chase plans to attend John A. Logan College and then transfer to a four-year university where he will pursue a Bachelor's degree in nursing.

Chace is the son of Nancy Epplin and the late Danny Epplin of Du Quoin. Chace was formally recognized at the District #300 Foundation Dinner in May. The Hospital Scholarship Committee hosted a dinner on July 30 in honor of Chace, as well as, Curry Emling, 2011 recipient, Lindsey Chapman, 2010 recipient, and Chelsey (Varner) Davis, 2009 recipient.

The Scholarship Committee is comprised of hospital board members Richard Haines, Kathy West, Don Hoffman, Mark Maclin and Edwin A. Gast, CEO.

Marshall Browning Hospital is now paying out $4,000 each year to local students who are committed to furthering their education and working toward a healthcare career. It is one of the many ways Marshall Browning Hospital is giving back to the community.
