Marshall Browning Hospital to Host Health Fair April 4


Du Quoin, Illinois - March 20, 2009 - Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin will offer "Health Fair 2009" to community members on Saturday, April 4 from 7:00 a.m. to 12 noon at the hospital. Lab testing will begin at 7:00 a.m. and booths will open at 8:00 a.m.

Attendees to this event can expect great FREE seminars, informational booths and screenings.

The free seminars include:

• 8:30 a.m. - "Exercise & Diet" presented by Tim Davis, PTA, Certified Athletic Trainer

• 9:15 a.m. - "Sleep Apnea" presented by Dr. Terry Brown, Diplomat of American Board of Sleep Medicine

• 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. - "Building A Better Memory for Everyday Life" presented by Milly Kaiser, Family Life Educator, U of I Extension

• 11:00 a.m. - "Meal Management for Diabetes" presented by Gail Peterman, Registered Dieitian/Registered Diabetes Educator

In addition, the Health Fair will be providing blood testing at a reduced rate of $10. Blood tests include a Lipid Profile (Cholesterol, Triglyceride, HDL, LDL and Blood Sugar (Glucose). For most accurate results, participants should fast 8 hours prior to testing. For reduced wait times, pre-register by calling 618-542-2146, ext. 1433. Other free health screenings include PFT (pulmonary function testing) and blood pressure screenings.

Attendees can take advantage of free Child ID's provided by the Perry County Sheriff's staff, free Chair Massage by Kay's Massage & Wellness, Brown Bag (bring your medications and meet with a Pharmacist), complete an Advance Directive, create a "Personal Health Record", and tour the Arch Air Medical Helicopter and an ambulance.

The Hospital is pleased to have over 20 informational booths available such as smoking cessation, asthma, sleep apnea, diabetes, Stat Heart Program, Southern Illinois Dermatology, Southern Illinois Behavioral Services, Perry County Health Department, American Cancer Society, home medical equipment, prenatal care information, hospice services, senior services and much more. There will be multiple MBH booths including rehab services (physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, lymphedema therapy, vestibular therapy), same day surgery services, Marshall Browning Estates, mammography, specialty clinics, physician clinics, and patient billing.
