MBH Employees Raise $2,500 for American Heart Association


Marshall Browning Hospital employees joined the fight against heart disease this weekend in a monumental way.

Hospital employees formed a team in August and began collecting donations for the American Heart Association Heart Walk held on Saturday, September 29 at John A. Logan College. A total of 28 employees were busy with various fundraisers which included a quilt raffle, blue jean day, half-a-heart contest, bake sales, red shirt day, and awarding heart stickers to donors to be displayed around the hospital. By Friday, September 28, Marshall Browning walls were blanketed in red, silver and gold hearts.

The team's goal was to raise $1,500. On Saturday, the team proudly presented $2,500 to the American Heart Association. Team captains were Sarah Dickey (Company Coordinator), Susan Buetow, and Barb Werner with team members including Brittany Murry, Debbie Kimbro, Paige Dickey, Laura Sims, Mia Craig, Sandy and Fred Gant, Pam Logan, Physical Therapy department, Ruthie Hicks, Tracy Schubert, Will Higgerson, Mark Swift, Kathy and Daria McClurken, Joyce Lucas, Sherry Wertz, Michele Lacey, Stephanie Hall, Jane Cobin, Michaela Ferguson, Vicki Derby, Jim Derby, Summer Rulevish and Carmen Grogan.

Employees and friends participating in the Heart Walk on Saturday were Sarah Dickey, Susan Buetow, Victoria Derby, Sherry Wertz, Paige Dickey, Stephanie Hall, Jane Cobin, James Derby, Sandy Gant, Summer Rulevish, Michaela Ferguson, and Fred Gant.

Following the Heart Walk, Marshall Browning Hospital's team was presented the "Rookie Team" award.
