Marshall Browning Hospital Announces Opening of Pulmonology Clinic


Du Quoin, Illinois - July 11, 2017 - Marshall Browning Hospital is pleased to open a new Pulmonology Clinic to treat patients suffering from ailments of the lungs and respiratory system. Leading the new clinic will be Pulmonologists Suhail Istanbouly, M.D. and Walid Halees, M.D. Dr. Istanbouly will see patients every other Wednesday beginning August 9 and Dr. Halees will see patients every other Tuesday beginning August 17 in the Specialty Clinic, located at the hospital at 900 North Washington Street in Du Quoin.

"There is a tremendous need for pulmonary care in our community and we are pleased to bring two excellent physicians to provide this service to the patients in Perry County and the surrounding communities," said Dan Eaves, CEO.

The Pulmonology Clinic will treat all types of pulmonary and sleep conditions in children age 6 to adults. Special interests include the evaluation and treatment of COPD, Asthma, Black Lung, Sarcoidosis, Pulmonary Hypertension, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Sleep Apnea, and evaluation of shortness of breath and chronic cough.

Dr. Istanbouly attended medical school at Damascus University School of Medicine, Damascus, Syria. After graduating, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ. He went on to complete his Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship at the Finch University Health and Sciences, Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, IL. He is board certified in Pulmonary, Sleep, and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Istanbouly has been practicing for 15 years in Southern Illinois.

Dr. Halees attended medical school at the University of Jordan, School of Medicine, Amman, Jordan, and completed an Internal Medicine Residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey. He completed a Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine, including intensive care and sleep medicine training at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine.
