Marshall Browning Hospital Welcomes Morthland College Health Services

Du Quoin, Illinois - February 8, 2016 - Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin is continuing to improve access to health care for the residents of Perry County and the surrounding communities.

The hospital recently signed a contract with Morthland College Health Services (MCHS) to provide hospitalist services. Hospitalists are physicians who work in close consultation with the primary care physician and appropriate specialists to manage a patient's entire hospital experience, from the time of admission until discharge.

"We are pleased to bring providers from the Morthland College Health Services to Marshall Browning. The physicians will be in the hospital seven days a week to monitor patients and adjust the treatment to make sure they are receiving optimal care during their hospital stay," said Dan Eaves, Marshall Browning Hospital CEO.

Studies show that hospitalists increase the quality of care, reduce the length of stay, and reduce healthcare costs while providing patients the added comfort and security of having a physician on site to oversee care, answer questions and ensure the smooth coordination of all hospital services.

"The quality of the MCHS providers is excellent. Providers will include Timothy Morthland, M.D.; Patrick Riley, M.D.; Moya Cook, NP; Elizabeth Harbison, NP; and Heather Rice, PA-C. Some of the providers know many of our patients and their families and already have a strong relationship with the community. We feel that this is a win for the patient, the hospital, the physician and the healthcare delivery system in general," Eaves said.

"Morthland College Health Services is committed to serving local hospitals in our area by bringing in academic clinicians, who are quality physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners," said Emily Hayes, MCHS chief operating officer. "We are so excited to be partnering with Marshall Browning to help them grow their hospital by executing a strategic plan for growth through building additional service lines to take care of citizens' health care needs in their home communities."
