Marshall Browning Rehab to Celebrate Grand Opening

The new Marshall Browning Rehabilitation Center at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin is being celebrated with a public grand opening event. The community is invited to tour the new facility on Monday, August 13, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

"The primary focus of our expansion was to meet the needs of our patients, their families and to enhance support to our growing physical therapy patient practice," said William Huff, CEO. "The interior layout of the department is designed to promote efficiency in all areas of therapy and workflow."

The addition includes two additional new treatment rooms, doubling the size of the exercise gym, dressing rooms with shower, waiting room, and new reception and staff offices. The rehabilitation building now encompasses 4,524 square feet and features a canopy over the entryway.

Marshall Browning Rehab offers physical therapy, aquatic therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy. They are also pleased to have added Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) for patients suffering from dizziness or balance problems and Lymphedema Therapy for patients suffering from chronic swelling of the skin and subcutaneous tissues. "We have seen tremendous growth in our therapy services with a 40% increase in treatments over the last five years," said Huff. "This further necessitated the need for additional space for the growing number of patients who choose Marshall Browning Rehab for their therapy services." Huff commented, "We have added new state-of-the-art equipment and are proud to be the only provider of aquatic therapy services in Perry County."

"The growth of our therapy services is because patients are recognizing that they can receive excellent therapy services right here close to home," said Huff. "When you have had a major accident, stroke, or had surgery such as knee or hip replacement, you can have your therapy as an inpatient through our Swing Bed program or on an outpatient basis at our newly expanded therapy center. You don't have to travel out of the area for those services."

The staff of Marshall Browning Rehab welcomes the community to experience compassionate care, close to home.
