New support program to begin May 25th at Marshall Browning Hospital

Du Quoin, Illinois - May 13, 2010 - In a continued effort to serve the community, Marshall Browning Hospital will begin a Grandparents Raising Grandchildren support group. This parenting again support group will meet the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the second floor conference room at Marshall Browning Hospital. The facilitator of the group will be Vicki Spiller, Director at Marshall Browning Estates.

"I am excited to begin the program," stated Mrs. Spiller. "My goal is to uphold the mission put in place by the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Coalition of Southern Illinois. That mission is to create a network of individuals, families and professionals dedicated to increasing awareness of issues related to parenting across generations and to organizing resources and seeking solutions that resolve the challenges."

The agenda for May 25th is to establish goals and guidelines, discuss the best time for the meeting to be held, and find obstacles that could keep people from attending and see if they can be adjusted early in the program.

The next two meetings will be held on June 22nd - Adjusting to your role as Grandparent Caregiver and July 27th - Taking Care of You.
