MARSHALL BROWNING HOSPITAL TO OFFER SCHOOL SPORTS PHYSICAL CLINICS

Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin will offer school sports physical clinics for area junior high and high school athletes. Area student athletes will be given a thorough sports physical examination by a team of local physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, physical therapists, and athletic trainer. Providers who will be working the clinics include Dr. Patrick Riley, Moya Cook, NP, Heather Rice, PA-C, Dr. Craig Furry, Dr. Clay Travis, and Kim Schramke, NP. The cost for the physical will be $10 and Marshall Browning Hospital will then donate the fees to each individual school represented.

The sports physical clinics will be offered on Monday, July 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, August 2 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Exams are required every year for a student to participate in sports.

The clinics will be held in the Specialty Services area of the hospital. Students may enter through the main lobby. IHSA Pre-participation forms will be available at the clinics; however, since this form serves as a consent, it must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian and presented at the time of the exam. Forms may also be printed from the IHSA website at ihsa.org. Exams will not be performed without the parent or guardian's signature. The exam is for sports physicals only and does NOT apply to school physicals. No appointments are needed. Students will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis.

For questions concerning the clinics, please call Pam Logan at 542-1033.
