MBH Awards Third Four-Year Healthcare Scholarship


Du Quoin, Illinois - July 28, 2011 - Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin awarded their third $1,000 four-year health career scholarship to Curry Emling of Du Quoin. Curry plans to attend John A. Logan College and then transfer to Murray State University where she will pursue a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. After graduating from Murray State, she plans to obtain a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy.

Curry is the daughter of Adam and Abby Emling of Du Quoin. Curry was formally recognized at the District #300 Foundation Dinner in May. The Hospital Scholarship Committee hosted a dinner on July 28 in honor of Curry, as well as, Lindsey Chapman, 2010 recipient, and Chelsey Varner, 2009 recipient. The Scholarship Committee is comprised of hospital board members Richard Haines, Kathy West, Don Hoffman, Mark Maclin and William Huff, CEO.

Within four years, the hospital will be paying out $4,000 each year to local students who are committed to furthering their education and working toward a healthcare career. It is one of the many ways Marshall Browning Hospital is giving back to the community.
