Dr. Gladstone Tucker to be Medical Director of Hospitalist Program


Du Quoin, Illinois - February 21, 2011 - Marshall Browning Hospital and Acute Care, Inc. are pleased to announce that Dr. Gladstone Tucker has assumed the role of Medical Director of the Hospitalist Program at Marshall Browning Hospital. Dr. Tucker has been a member of the active medical staff of Marshall Browning Hospital for six years, and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, with an emphasis in Geriatrics.

Marshall Browning Hospital and Acute Care, Inc. both look forward to the continued excellent stewardship of the medical needs of Du Quoin and the surrounding area, and congratulate Dr. Tucker on his acceptance of this important leadership role.

In his new role, Dr. Tucker will provide leadership and oversight to the Hospitalist Program, which encompasses both Emergency Services rendered in the Emergency Department, and ongoing care of the Hospital's inpatients. Specific duties include:

• Working with the medical staff and hospital administration to formulate clinical and administrative policies and procedures for the program;

• Working with the medical staff and hospital administration to provide input regarding departmental operational needs;

• Ensure that departmental performance meets standards addressed in Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, Hospital Bylaws, Departmental Policies, the Joint Commission Manual of Accreditation, and other agencies/organizations as appropriate;

• Review and evaluate the performance of the Hospitalist and Emergency Department physicians and serve as a liaison between hospital departments, other medical staff and the Hospitalist/Emergency Department physicians; and

• Address staff and patient care concerns related to Hospitalist and Emergency Services.

• Enhance communication between family members and the Hospitalist.

• Enhance communication between local nursing homes and the Hospitalist.

"It is our goal to create a core group of four physicians who will serve as the Hospitalist/Emergency Department physician for Marshall Browning Hospital," said William Huff, CEO. Dr. Tucker will be evaluating the physicians and selecting a group that will work as a team with the primary care physicians. This group of highly qualified physicians will become familiar with the patients in Perry County and continue to build a program that has the confidence of the medical staff and the community.

Dr. Tucker will continue his full-time practice at the Hospital's Medical Clinic which is located in a beautiful new facility across from the hospital.

Marshall Browning Hospital is located in Du Quoin in Perry County. MBH is a non-profit critical access hospital. The Hospital campus includes a 25 bed hospital with 24 hour ER, rehab center, medical clinic, 22-unit independent living facility, with numerous specialists and healthcare programs available.
