MLT or MT
Full-time opening on the night shift for an MLT or an MT.
The Medical Technologist performs routine and complex laboratory analyses and assumes responsibility for problem-solving. He or she is responsible for reviewing, teaching, and implementing maintenance, quality control, and proficiency programs for various laboratory systems and instruments. The Medical Technologist, when assigned may also assume the responsibility for supervision in the absence of the Lab Manager/Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: The Medical Technologist must have a minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts which includes 16 semester hours in chemistry and 16 hours in biology and 1 hour in math.
B. Training and Experience: At least one year of training in an approved school of Medical Technology inclusive of experience/rotations in a JCAHO or CAP-approved laboratory.
C. Certification or Registry:
a. Certification: C(ASCP), H(ASCP), SBB)ASCP), CLSp (C), CLSp (H), CLSp (BB), MLT(ASCP), CLT(NCAMLP), RMT(ISCLT), RLT(ISCLT), MT(AMT), MLT(AMT), CLA(ASCP), CLT(HEW).
b. Registry eligible: Must have graduated from an NCCLS-approved program and be eligible to sit for one of the registry exams listed in #1. The exam must be passed, and documentation of certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire in order to complete the qualifications for this position. A pay differential will be awarded in the pay period following official documented proof of certification.
D. Must have qualified as a technician under CLIA regulations for moderate and high complexity testing personnel (493.1423. Feb. 28, 1992, Federal Register).
E. Job Knowledge: Medical Technologists must understand the use and limitations of laboratory equipment and apparatus and be familiar with standard laboratory methods and techniques for handling pathological tissue and material for bacteriological examination. Medical Technologists must understand staining techniques and culture methods. The Medical Technologist must have a basic knowledge of various fields of specialty in laboratory science and be capable of collecting, processing, and storing blood and body fluids.
MLT
The Medical Laboratory Technician performs various chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. He or she receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis and applies techniques used in the areas of bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, serology and chemical and morphological examinations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: The Medical Technician must graduate from an approved Medical Technology
1. School includes 60 or more college semester hours with a minimum of 24 semester hours in the sciences.
B. Training and Experience: At least one year of training in an approved school of Medical Technology inclusive of experience/rotations in a JCAHO or CAP-approved laboratory.
C. Certification or Registry:
