Patient Access Associate

Qualifications:
Education: The Patient Access Associate must be a high school graduate or equivalent and must be at least 18 years of age.
Training and Experience: The Patient Access Associate must be able to use a typewriter, computer, adding machine, and photocopy machine. General knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Knowledge of specific duties will be gained after employment.
Job Knowledge: The patient Access Associate should have a thorough understanding of all the duties of the Patient Access office. Patient Access Associate will be trained for three to four weeks or as deemed necessary to function in Patient Access for all three shifts. Associates should be familiar with general policies and procedures for the hospital along with all Patient Access shift duties. Most importantly, remember that patient information is strictly confidential.
Essential Functions:
The Patient Access Associate will be responsible for handling all calls that come through the hospital switchboard and processing inpatient and outpatient forms of all patients who come to the hospital for services. This entails tracking all orders for lab, x-ray, pulmonary function, and all ancillary services before sending the patient to the designated department. The Associate is responsible for all Patient Access office functions which include some Business Office functions in the absence of the Supervisor. The Patient Access office is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Associate is required to work any shift that is deemed necessary by the Patient Access Supervisor.
