Marshall Browning Hospital to Welcome Dr. Chad Johnston

Du Quoin, Illinois – June 16, 2025 – Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin is pleased to announce the addition of Chad Johnston, M.D., to the medical staff at Marshall Browning Hospital. Dr. Johnston will see patients at the East Medical Clinic, located at 916 North Washington Street in Du Quoin. He will begin seeing patients full time on August 4; however, appointments can be scheduled now by calling 618-790-7401.

Dr. Johnston will join other providers at the East Medical Clinic, including Isaac Lowe, M.D., General Surgeon; David Dickinson, DPM, Podiatry; Kathy Laird, ACNP, Adult Medicine and Pulmonology; and Dr. Suhail Istanbouly, Pulmonology Clinic.

Dr. Johnston has broad experience and a reputation for compassionate care. As an Internal Medicine physician, he will routinely see patients with chronic conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, pulmonary disease, and more.

Dr. Johnston grew up in Vandalia, IL, and is familiar with the needs of rural Southern Illinois communities. After completing his undergraduate studies at Millikin University, he later graduated from Southern Illinois University with his Doctor of Medicine in Springfield, IL. He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, and a Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship in San Diego, CA. After completion of his training, Dr. Johnston returned to Springfield, IL, to practice medicine. After many years in Springfield, Dr. Johnston relocated to Colorado, where he has been in private practice since 2017. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, tennis, and staying active.

Dr. Johnston is looking forward to returning home to Southern Illinois to begin providing excellent care for our community. He will see patients from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. New patients are welcome. To make an appointment, call 618-790-7401.
