Advanced Practice Provider - PA / NP
Job Summary:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner who is licensed in the State of Illinois to practice medicine, and under the general supervision of the Rural Health Clinic’s Medical Director and the collaborative physician, provides direct healthcare to patients. The provider documents patients’ histories, medical reports and other records. Prepares treatment plans. Orders x-rays and other diagnostic procedures. Writes prescriptions. Refers acute and chronic care patients. Conducts health assessments utilizing diagnostic tools and laboratory tests. Provides patient education counseling. Performs other duties as requested by physicians or clinic director. Every patient entering the clinic will have the option of seeing an APP. Position requires ability to make decisions for patient welfare based on medical findings and to develop and implement treatment plans. Must demonstrate compassion and patience to families and patients. Effective oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications:
1. Education: The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner will be a graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner training program or physician assistant training program. Current licensure and registration with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. Valid National Provider Identifier (NPI).
2. Training: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice including basic knowledge related to clinic nursing such as biological, physical, social and medical sciences and their applications. Must have basic training to assess and care for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Familiarity with Clinic functions, standards, policies and procedures. Advanced Practice Provider must keep apprised of new developments in their field.
3. Experience: Skill in taking medical history assessing medical condition and interpreting findings. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with patients, clinical staff, and public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply treatment protocol guidelines and procedures. Ability to recognize medical condition requiring consultation with the collaborating physician, and to work with the collaborating physician, in person or by phone, on these and other cases. Ability to react calmly and provide effective medical care in emergency situations. Ability to communicate clearly.
4. Knowledge: Knowledge of professional medical practice and care to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of the organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

Hourly Wage: $60.00 - $75.00 per/hour (Actual wage depends on experience.)
