Circulating Nurse - Surgery
JOB SUMMARY:
The Circulating Nurse is a Registered Nurse who works as a circulating nurse and is cross trained into ambulatory services. This includes pre-operative, and infusion nursing. Marshall Browning Hospital services our community with various surgical procedures and endoscopies. Outpatient infusion nurses in our organization are compassionate, professional caregivers with strong clinical skills and sharp attention to detail.

JOB DUTIES:
A. Collaborate with the surgical team to deliver nursing care to patients undergoing surgical/invasive procedures.
B. Perform circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording, and managing overall nursing care of patients before, during and after surgery.
C. Verify the identity of the patient and surgical location prior to the start of the procedure.
D. Update patient medical records before, during, and after surgery.
E. Prepare operating rooms for use before surgery
F. Stock operating rooms with sterile equipment and supplies prior to each surgical case.
G. Uphold Sterile technique.
H. Provide pre- and post-operative patient education to patients and their families.
I. Assist anesthesia during patient intubation and extubation.
J. Performing patient assessments.
K. Administering Therapeutic intravenous treatments.
L. Reviewing laboratory results.
M. Monitoring for infusion complications and addressing issues with the medical team.
N. Assist in Sterile Processing.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: Must have associate’s degree in nursing or higher education. Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
B. Training and Experience: Two years of experience in related field preferred. Active RN License. BLS, ACLS, PALS are required or can be acquired within 1 year of hire. At least 1 year of critical care or operating room experience is preferred.
C. Job Knowledge: Thorough understanding of operating room sterile techniques, processes, and best practices.
D. Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
E. Strong understanding of infection prevention protocols.
F. Ability to efficiently manage time and develop a daily schedule to meet patient demands
G. Ability to document in electronic health record.

Additional Information
Position Type : Pool/PRN/Per Diem
Shift : Day
Hourly Wage: $32.50 - $49.50 per/hour (Actual wage depends on experience.)
