Respiratory Therapist
The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Coordinator is responsible for initiating and planning the
care of those individuals who have experienced an event or have a disease process related to
their cardiac and/or pulmonary systems. The coordinator is expected to possess the depth of
knowledge required to plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of such care according
to the standards of care and practices. He/she is also responsible for providing supervision
and coordination of the daily function of the department to achieve both quality and
financial objectives in the provision of health care, education, and participation in hospital
and community health programs. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to,
the preparation of scheduling requirements with the department’s capital and operational
budgets, and preparing and submitting statistical reports as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
 Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Coordinator will maintain a current Illinois license to
practice.
Relevant experience in cardiopulmonary practice settings.
Current BLS and ACLS Certification.
Training in exercise therapy for coronary and pulmonary diseases.
Demonstrates ability to perform necessary skills and competencies.
Commitment to a healthy lifestyle as a model for participants and staff.
Willing to work flexible hours, alternate, and/or additional shifts if warranted.
Care coordination experience is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy to very heavy physical effort (lifting/carrying 50 lbs or less without restrictions).
Prolonged extensive or considerable standing/walking.
Required to use hands for simple grasping, pushing and pulling.
Frequent bending and squatting.
Subject to variable and unpredictable situations associated with the care and treatment of
patients.
Occasionally subject to irregular hours, stresses and pressures required to effectively
provide continuous quality patient care.
